A WARM WELCOME

Whether you’re looking for great family holiday accommodation, or a romantic place for a weekend getaway, The Old Post Office is an ideal self-catering option.

A traditional building – The Old Post Office dates back to the turn of the century and is situated amongst some of the UK’s most scenic countryside. Sensitively renovated and with all modern amenities, it has been designed and furnished to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

A warm welcome awaits you at The Old Post Office – which is a 5 star holiday cottage. Personal touches include a welcome tray, fresh flowers, wine and toiletries to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Lovely locations – lots to see and do.

The Old Post Office is in Thorpe Bassett, a quiet, rural village nestling at the foot of the Wolds, only 1 mile away from the A64.

It’s within easy reach of York, Scarborough and the North Yorkshire Moors. Local attractions include Castle Howard, Eden Camp, Flamingoland and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR), of Heartbeat and Harry Potter fame.

You can hop onto the NYMR steam train at nearby Pickering. The railway’s route takes in some of the most spectacular views of the moors and surrounding area. This takes you all the way up to the popular destination of Whitby, with its world famous abbey, dramatic coastline and great choice of attractions.

EXPLORE THE COTTAGE

In its quiet and rural village setting, The Old Post Office has convenient private off-road parking alongside.

“What a wonderful cottage. Everything and more for a cottage.  Perfect for couples or families. Lots to do in the area. Owners were on hand if needed and were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.”

J Austin, Oxfordshire

“Having stayed at many self catering premises over the years, we can honestly say this one is the best. From the warm welcome on arrival to the flowers and wine left for us, everything was perfect. The Old Post Office was spotlessly clean with everything provided, right down to tea towels, oven gloves and dishwasher tablets.
We loved it so much we booked to return in April before we left.”

Pauline, K

“Lovely cosy cottage in in a rural location but within easy reach of tourist attractions. Ideal for a relaxed week or break. It is very clean and the owners were delightful and made us very welcome.”
